This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a STEM magnet middle school in Indiana. This means that my students chose to come to our school to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
My 7th and 8th graders come from all around the city to form a community where we focus on our core values of rigor, community, relationships, and drive.
My students come from diverse cultures and experiences, and some overcome significant obstacles to succeed at our school. In their two short years with us, they come in as young pre-teens and develop into teenagers prepared to flourish in high school!
My Project
I am requesting 6 pads of Post-It posters, Sharpie markers, and AstroBright accent paper for our math anchor charts. Not only do I use anchor charts for my initial teaching and delivery, but we use them as part of our learning process. Students produce evidence of their learning using these supplies. This is a way for me to collect formative information on their mastery as well as an opportunity for students to teach one another. By donating to this project, you are helping my students to visualize and conceptualize our math learning at the seventh and eighth grade level. Thank you!
