This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class consists of the most curious, sweet, loving kindergartners you can imagine. Seeing their little faces as they entered school for the first day was priceless. It is clearly evident, when speaking with any of my students, that they have such a desire to learn and grow. These children come from challenging home lives with limited opportunities. They all deserve a classroom equipped with all the necessary tools to access.
I am committed to ensuring that every child who enters my classroom will be supported as they begin their educational journey to becoming life-long learners and empathetic, responsible, contributing members of the community.
My Project
From the first day of kindergarten, I have been emphasizing to my students how every individual can make a monumental impact in this world. All good deeds as small as smiling at a stranger, holding the door for someone, picking up trash, or giving your spare change to someone in need, make a big difference in making the world a more beautiful place. I offer my students the analogy of the tallest tree in the forest beginning as a tiny seed. We have explored ways to make our world a better place, really honing in on ways to protect and mend the environmental health of the earth. Thanks to a previous DonorsChoose project, I was able to provide my students with reusable water bottles to reduce plastic waste.
Having a water dispenser in the classroom will give my students access to filtered, high quality drinking water.
Please help me continue in my quest to foster the development of environmentally conscious agents of change who will fight for the well being of the earth. From little seeds grow mighty trees.
