This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Education is changing every single day, and so are the interests of my students. I always want to make sure that they still have a spark in them to want to come to school every day, ready to learn. Our class has a mission to make learning fun while ensuring students are quality producers and complex thinkers. In order to do this, I learned from experience that positive behavior supports work best in keeping students invested in their own education. After many hours of learning and doing assignments, students take pride in their efforts when they are acknowledged and rewarded for doing great work. I want to show my students that in every way possible that reward follows work.

By donating to our class project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

In addition to the variety of stickers and stamps that will be used to reward students for their hard work, I am also requesting different wooden puzzles for my students with autism who are working hard to transition into the general education classroom. When students are moving from a special education classroom into a regular classroom with their non-disabled peers, the classroom routine can be overstimulating. By allowing sensory breaks between academics, these students are able to self-regulate their bodies and transition between subjects easily. These puzzles will allow my overstimulated students a brain break that is needed for them to participate with their peers in the classroom. In addition, these puzzles will be shared by the whole class to enjoy during indoor recess and playtimes.
