Help me give my students volleyballs, training materials like tennis balls and weights, a ball catcher, vertical trainers, scoreboards, line judge flags, ball cart for storage, and ball pump for advancements for our middle school volleyball teams.
My amazing students-athletes come from multiple cities around the school. They enter the school every day and are energetic and ambitious to learn. They never let their home atmosphere stop them from becoming lifelong learners. I want to be able to say I gave each child who came into my classroom everything they needed in order to be successful. My students attend a creative arts public charter school, and I aim to give each child opportunities to excel inside and outside of the classroom.
My Project
With the end of our spring season and future fall season for volleyball means the growth of new teams. Unfortunately, many of our supplies have disappeared and we are left to rebuild our volleyball closet with supplies that many of our players need. Since we are a low-income school many of our players can not afford the materials needed like practice wear, game wear, shoes, knee pads, and more to play effectively and with confidence. We have an outdoor volleyball league that is about to begin because we have received many materials from donors choose. Many of the materials requested will be used for our outdoor league and indoor season. It is our hopes to get other schools involved and run a tournament to get every child the opportunity to play. I also want to train the players but without a weight room or materials to train them, we are limited to what we can do. This project will provide weighted hula hoops for core training, medicine balls for upper body strength, resistance bands for lower body movements. The new volleyballs and pumps will increase repetition for practice of new skills. We will safely store the new materials in the metal cage. My hope is to fulfill this project and be able to show my teams that we can be united no matter where we come from and we all have one goal and that is to be a team that is respected.
