My Project
I teach students with mild/moderate disabilities in a Behavior Intervention Class. They are from low-socioeconomic backgrounds and diverse racial backgrounds. We are at a Title I school which gives 100% free lunch and breakfast. Many students don’t have access to these expensive game consoles like a PS5. After school, I started a Video Game Club where the students can play video games together. They learn about good sportsmanship and how to use appropriate social skills. You’d be surprised at how angry kids get when they lose their games, so a big thing these students learn is how to lose like a winner and play for fun versus just playing to win. I also teach a Greek Mythology Unit every year and they always tell me the Greek God of War is Kronos from the God of War game. While that is not correct, the game does have a lot of fun references to Greek Mythology that can help my students learn in a really fun way.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
