After School Strategy Board Game Club

My Project

I've been a teacher here at our elementary school for over 10 years. It's always troubled me how few after school socialization opportunities we've had available for kids. We have a diverse school culture that needs to be exposed to as many opportunities as possible. Sharing my love of advanced board games would benefit the morale not only of my students, but myself as well. I plan to introduce an after school board game club; starting out small (this is my first time attempting something like this) and increasing the amount of students as the year progresses.

Our students, along with students across the country, have become overly dependent on screens and video games.

I want them to be exposed to the amazing world of board games that have opened up in recent years. I'm not talking about the standbys like Monopoly and Sorry. Games like Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride introduce advanced strategy and mathematical skills, in addition to background knowledge based on the theme of the individual games.
