This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Exposing urban students who often don't have the financial resources to various sports and activities is essential. My goal is to offer a free after school tennis program so they are able to learn a life long sport, while also reaping the benefits of additional physical activity.

The scholars that I teach are between the ages of 3-11.

My students live in a high poverty, low income community and deserve the same opportunities as other children might have. My school is a school of excellence that strives to provide all of our scholars with the 21st century skills that would make them college bound and/or career ready in this competitive world.

My Project

Having this project funded would allow me the opportunity to conduct an after school tennis club. This project would supply me with tennis rackets and tennis balls for my students to use twice a week during the after school session. Most importantly the students will learn a life long sport and will be able to participate in this tennis club absolutely free.

My project will give my urban student population an opportunity at participating in an extra curricular activity which they might not have had the resources for.

This project will also help improve their social skills, sportsmanship, focus, activeness, and their academic achievement.
