This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the art teacher I strive to serve all our students with an opportunity to create art they can be proud of and a safe place to do it in.

This year we have started an after school art club two days a week to provide all students with a safe place to socialize and create.

We began doing pottery and it has really taken off with 60+ kids a week and nearly 300 a month choosing to stay after and create with us. The tools will help us make detailed ceramics and the glazes will allow us to make useable vessels such as mugs, cups, plates and bowls with a glass like finish that won’t wash off.

This growth has been exciting but much more than I had planned for as there is little to no budget for this program. I have been using my own money to provide basics like clay while working on fundraising efforts. Please help me support this amazing opportunity!
