Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

After the COVID-19 became a worldwide pandemic schools were forced to close and everyone was required to stay at home. My students' lives were directly impacted by the pandemic and they were left without any real connection to their school community, access to internet, friends, school supplies, art materials.

As a result, teachers are implementing lessons through distance learning activities.

Students are missing out on social, emotional learning as well as academic during this stay at home time. I would like to provide engaging art lessons that can be easily done at home with families. These materials will help students continue learning through school closures and other scheduling uncertainties related to Coronavirus. Items will be delivered to the location chosen by the teacher.

My Project

Students will learn about African culture and how it influences art. The students in the art classes will be able to integrate math (pattern, shape) into the mudcloth. They will be able to use math (measuring) and create a pattern using geometric shapes. This will benefit the students because the lesson reinforces math concepts.

The African Mudcloth Art Project will allow students to learn about African culture.

This will bring a multicultural perspective to the art room so that students can explore what art and culture mean.
