Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students will get to review the work of Louise Hay artist and intuitive healer whose positive philosophy and healing techniques have helped transform her life and countless others. Louise published her affirmations on a variety of beautifully illustrated cards; she said creating the cards led to a world of healing.
I would like to teach my students how to transform their fears and worries into self-affirming statements; beautifully designed with acrylic and watercolor paint.
Learning how to use Art materials and their own creative thoughts students will gain a tool to help get them out of a struggling mindset. Instead of saying "I'm worried I'm going to fail" let's spin it to say "I am strong; willing to put in my best efforts and let go of expectations." Students will dive into the phrases and adorn them with bold patterns and unifying designs which will solidify their intentions. I have done this project with adults and not only did they love the results in the end they enjoyed the process which gave them creative control over their original worries. The power of Art is endless.
