My Students
My students attend a NYCDOE Title I school in Brooklyn. Every day our school warmly opens its doors to a highly diverse group of fifteen hundred middle school students from all over the borough. Our goal for all students, regardless of demographic categories, is to have them engage in transformation learning experiences that allows students to become creators and designers rather than just receivers of information.
My school offers various “magnet programs” where students are able to explore and develop their talents.
This year we added an Advertising Magnet. In this magnet students will be learning the history of advertising, advertising techniques, how to create advertisements, the role advertising plays in our society, and how advertising reflects our current society, as well as contributes to its development.

To assist students in their understanding, I am asking for a class set of Made You Look: How Advertising Works and Why You Should Know by Shari Graydon.
This resource will support my curriculum and spans the beginnings of advertising to the 21st century. It includes real-life examples, thought proving questions, and engaging illustrations. It is my intention to use this resource throughout their middle school career in Advertising.
