This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Fourth graders are such fun age! My students love asking questions about real events and the world around them. The books I've selected are all non-fiction titles that my fourth graders will be so excited to read. Having a variety of student needs in my class, including about one third of my students are English learners, I hope to build confidence and a love of reading.
These non-fiction titles will spark students' curiosity, build on their background knowledge, and strengthen comprehension.
I want to continue encouraging my fourth graders to read as a daily habit. They can earn prizes in class for reading books and taking comprehension tests. The prizes I've chosen are fun items that ten year olds really get excited about. The prizes include small notebooks, keychains, and of course the favorite: squishes.
With a class of thirty-one students, the classroom has a buzz of energy. Often times students need a quiet area to focus. This is why we especially need the privacy boards. Students will be able to move the boards to any area in the room to have that quiet space.
