Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach at a Title 1 School with 30% Hispanic students. More than 73% of the students in my school qualify for free/reduced lunch. Many of the students that enter my kindergarten classroom have never been to an educational program before. They have not been exposed to the wonderful world of science. I would like for the students that enter my classroom to have wonderful experiences and adventures in science. I would like classroom safe science specimens consisting of insects, plants, sea life, a scorpion, spiders, and a life cycle. I would like magnifying glasses and window greenhouses. I would also like puzzles to go along with my science, because the majority of the students entering my class do not have puzzles at home. I think that all of these materials will allow my students to take a close up look at living things and the wonderful world of science. These materials will be used with my kindergarten students this year and future kindergarten students. This project will be able to give kindergarten students that enter my classroom each year an exciting close up look at science.
