My Project
My classroom needs YOUR help ! It has been exciting to teach for the past twenty-eight years, twenty of them at our beloved elementary school! I have taught the lower grades for many years therefore I need to build up my upper grade classroom library. As I embark on this journey to teach my fourth graders, my project Adventures in Reading is to create a classroom library and reading nook for my students. Items such as Black Mountain Products Exercise Balance Stability Discs will create flexible seating, The Questioneers Picture Book Collection are books that will be used in our STEAM lessons. The Label Maker Machine with Tape-Phomemo D30 Mini Portable Thermal Labeler will help us label our books with their AR level. AR (Accelerated Reader) is a program we use in our school to encourage reading. Students read books, take a quiz and earn points. Each 9 weeks when students make their AR goal, there is an AR celebration for students. Many of the books on the purchase list are Sunshine State Books. Students that read all the Sunshine State book and test on them, earn special rewards. Another book on my list Do Unto Otters: A Book About Manners will be added to the current books I use to teach students about character. I want to provide my students with the materials they need to earn their Sunshine State tags, learn about the Golden Rule and continue to enrich their knowledge with STEAM lessons. These materials will allow my students to improve their reading, improve their science skills, develop their social emotional awareness and most of all continue to foster their love of reading.
