This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in a school with a very high low-income student population in Chicago, Illinois. Because many of my students have limited access to resources and opportunities, I am constantly looking for ways to compensate for the things that they lack access to. Like many urban public school students, they just need opportunities to keep them engaged in learning about the world around them in order to want to learn and succeed.
With this project, we will be able to bring the moon and stars to our students with an inflatable StarLab Portable Planetarium!
This project will allow students at my school to sit inside an inflatable planetarium in order to watch a presentation about the night sky and constellations. This will definitely be an opportunity that they will remember because as they walk into the inflatable planetarium and look up at the projections on the domed ceiling, they will feel as if they were transported elsewhere as they embark into learning about science and space.
