My Students

Aloha! My students are kind and loving students who are eager to learn. This past school year has been hard on everyone, especially our students. Many of my future students have been distance learning for over a year during the most important skill-building years of lower elementary where foundational skills are critical for academic success.

Many of my students are of Asian and Pacific Island ethnicity.

I teach at a rural school on the island of O'ahu, in the state of Hawaii. We have a mixed socio-economic demographic of middle to low income and some transient students. Regardless of their socio-economic status, they are friendly, kind, and helpful students that really demonstrate a sense of community within the school. many of these students live within walking distance of the school and have family members that have attended or are currently attending the school.

I want to create an exciting and engaging learning environment that will help them build and strengthen their foundational math skills they will need in order to be successful in mastering third-grade math standards.

My Project

Having hands-on reading material is essential to student learning and engagement when it comes to developing reading comprehension skills. By funding this project you will be helping to expose students to a variety of genres that they may not have been introduced to through their reading experiences.

By funding this project, you are helping to build a leveled classroom library that will meet the needs of all students in my class regardless of their current reading levels.

Students reading on a lower level will be able to find books on their level to read and build their fluency and comprehension through guided reading practice. They will be able to move up in their reading level and find books to support their skills as they strengthen their reading.
