This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Teaching 8-10 year olds is probably one of the most challenging but yet most rewarding tasks there is. These kids are just starting to figure out who they are and what they want to be in life. The habits they form when they are this age follow them throughout their lives.
My students face adversity daily.
They come from a low socioeconomic area and most are second language learners. Almost every child in our school is faced with education and language gaps. Despite the obstacles they face, their spirit and drive to learn is inspiring.
The task to unlock these amazing student's potential is daunting but worth the effort. They just need people to believe in them like every staff member at our school does. "When you catch a glimpse of your potential, that's when passion is born," said Zig Ziglar. We only need to show them their potential and we will set ablaze the fire in all of their hearts.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my class by giving my students materials they will love. When students love what they are reading they can learn anything they want. I want to give my students all of the opportunities I can to have fun while they read!
New books help our students adventure to place they have never been before.
My students need books that are intriguing and books that they are motivated to read. It is difficult for my students to stay focused on a book when they are not interested in the book. All of these materials will help my students stay interested in new books and push their understanding to a new level. This project will give them a variety of different topics and levels for their reading.
