My Project

My second graders are developing into confident readers, and having high-interest books in our classroom makes all the difference. Series books especially capture their attention, keep them motivated, and help them build important reading stamina. This project will provide four popular series that my students are eager to explore: the I Survived Graphix set, the Dog Man series, the Flat Stanley set, and books by Judy Blume.

Each of these collections offers something special.

The I Survived Graphix books connect kids to history through engaging graphic novel storytelling. Dog Man brings laughter and creativity, hooking even the most reluctant readers. Flat Stanley encourages imagination and adventure while supporting comprehension at an accessible level. Judy Blume’s timeless stories open doors to deeper thinking and help students connect to characters’ emotions and real-life situations.

By adding these books to our classroom library, I will be able to provide students with more choices that match their interests and abilities. These sets will help me guide students in small groups, encourage independent reading, and foster meaningful discussions. Most importantly, they will help my students see themselves as readers and discover that reading can be both fun and powerful.
