My Students

My students are tech wizards! I wish I had half of their technical knowledge. With that kind of talent, it hurts me to watch them try to advance their learning on slow and limited technology. The world they are entering is fast, and I want them as prepared as possible!

I have a 3rd grade class of 19 students...a mix of 8 boys and 11 girls.

They are beyond good at using technology. As a general rule of thumb, they show me when something is not working properly with our technology. When it comes to our four student computers in the classroom, this happens often. Our school has a great atmosphere of learning. Our motto: "Learning today...leaders tomorrow" rings true in the hallways on a daily basis. The student is always put first, but as in any public setting, funds are limited. There is only so much we can do at a time to advance our technology in a school of this size. These 19 students are ready to move forward with the times and would absolutely love your help! These students make connections quickly and want to implement that learning as soon as possible. Please help them prepare for the fast paced world!

My Project

Wow...2 mini iPads floating around the classroom! What would we do with them? The possibilities are absolutely endless! First, students would rotate them throughout the classroom daily to advance and assess the connection just made in a lesson. Then, they would be held accountable to share their learning with friends beside them. At any given time, we could have up to six friends making connections, sharing, teaching, and advancing learning at the same time! What could be more exciting than opening the mind of a child! These iPads would be used in whole group instruction, individual assessments, and also used for center based rotations.

This project will impact these students because it prepares them for the world they live in.

Making real world connections to learning and implementing what you know is a life skill for success! These iPads will provide an opportunity for the students to assess and advance their learning in a manner compatible for the fast paced world in which they are preparing to enter.
