My Students

"Coding is today's language of creativity. All our children deserve a chance to become creators instead consumers ." - Maria Klawe.

By providing my students with the tools, and high quality instruction, for exploring their world, we can bring STEAM to life.

My goal is to ignite their interest in the computer sciences by connecting the virtual and physical worlds through computer programming & robotics.

My students are diagnosed with autism and attend my class (grades 6-8) in a public school for students with disabilities in Brooklyn, NY. We are a diverse group, with students coming from all corners of the borough. My students work hard to become independent learners. They are constantly pushing their own academic and social limits and deserve the best of resources to help them reach their potential.

My Project

Our students have been engaged with basic block-based visual programming for all the years they have been in our classroom. It started with WeDo 2.0 when they were in elementary school. Now that they are well-versed with WeDo 2.0, it's their chance to level up!

We are always challenging our students by adding the rigor they need to learn and grow.

Building on the elementary style block-based visual programming of LEGO WeDo 2.0 that they are so familiar with, they have the opportunity to program their beloved robots to perform more advanced actions, and lead the way to a style that more closely resembles lines of code.

My goal as an educator is to instill a lifelong love for computer programming to give my students the confidence to walk through the many doors that will be available for them in the STEM field. Especially as they begin their approach on high school and truly have the chance to foster the skills they need for their chosen a careers.
