This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kingdom for a canvas! We are in need of painting supplies in our Advanced Placement Studio Art class.

My students are Title One designation and are very proactive in regards to the development of their AP portfolios.

Many of the students want to paint and use other artist materials, but I do not have enough specialized instruments for them to use during the class. Though we are in a ten mile radius of art stores, the students have no way to reach these locations nor do they have the personal funding to purchase these items. I have purchased some paints and materials thus far, but I can only afford so much before it becomes a financial hardship.

My Project

These materials will primarily allow the students to work in painting. Our school offers a very limited scope of painting courses and the students do not gain advanced skills in painting until they join this course. The students not only seem eager, but excited to work in these mediums. A great example is a student I had in an AP course last year who had never painted in her entire life. She was a great figurative artist, but never touched a brush before. I encouraged her to paint and explore new avenues. As she began to paint, she discovered a new world of artistic mediums, helping her pass he AP Drawing portfolio. She is currently working on a 2D Design portfolio and exclusively using painting, working all summer to develop her skills.

The donations for these supplies will help underprivileged students gain a real education in the fine arts.

The students will gain critical insight into the fine arts realm and realize their true potential.
