Advanced Placement Boot Camp

My students need 60 white shirts and 12 tie dye kits.

I teach AP Biology at an inner city high school. Many students in this class receive free and reduced lunch services.

We have many Advanced Placement courses at our school. We have seen an increase in the number of students interested in taking advanced courses. We are struggling to get students to pass the final exams so this summer we are having AP boot camp for all students planning to take an Advanced Placement course.

The boot camp will be during the same time as summer school, where students are doing credit recovery not enrichment as our students will be doing. I want to start boot-camp off with a team project, Tie-dyed tee shirts, and have students wear them during our sessions. This will allow our students to stand out at the school and give them a feeling of pride, that they are in an AP course at our school.

Team building and cohesiveness can bring us together as boot-camp members/survivors at our school. They will walk away with a memory of how hard they worked and will wear that shirt during the school year to say..."yea that's right I survived AP boot camp and I am going somewhere."
