Advanced Book Swapping

My students need 25 books at an advanced reading level, from authors including Brandon Mull, Michael Scott, and Patricia C. Wrede.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Sumida's classroom raised $285

This project is fully funded

I am a teacher librarian at an elementary school that services many Navy and Army families in Hawaii. The library is the center of encouraging literacy on our PreK-6 campus.

About half of the students at my school are military dependents who move locations every three years. They are not able to have large home libraries as a result and are limited in the number and types of books they read at home. I recently started a Book Swap Program where students can bring in books from home to exchange for another on my Book Swap shelf. The more advanced readers are having trouble finding books appropriate for their reading level on the shelf.

My upper elementary students need 25 books to continue participating in the Book Exchange Program. These higher level books will fill the gap on the Book Swap shelf for students reading at a middle school level.

Your help will allow my students to explore new books and yet parents need not worry about purchasing new ones. We will be redistributing the unwanted books from one family to another family. In this way, underused books in one home will be utilized in a new home.
