Help me give my students opportunity to explore healthy eating options using fruits and vegetables.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Addy's classroom raised $554

My Project
My students live in a food desert. There are not any grocery stores for 15 miles in both directions of the attendance area. This makes grocery shopping and meal prep a primary focus for households. While grocery shopping and meal prep may seem foreign to a high school student, my students have a passion and love for the kitchen. The students will study food groups from MyPlate to create healthy smoothies to support different dietary needs based on specific age groups. Students will be separated into groups to complete research on dietary needs and then create presentations on their findings.
When the students have completed the research we will use the smoothie machine and tea service to support and create samples that match our research.
It is important with so many illnesses and diseases, that students find healthy alternatives to fast food options. My culinary students have a curriculum that supports learning how to prepare food options that are healthy and taste good.
The use of the machine will give us a variety of options and faster productivity for all students to experience the opportunity to engage in creating smoothies and teas that promote overall good health.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
