My Students

"If students don't learn the way we teach, we need to teach the way they learn". We just received a classroom set of Chromebooks and we need earbuds and mice to utilize them to the maximum capacity. Students practice reading several documents and composing an opinion or informational paper.

The students at our school are from low income households and are a very diverse group with a variety of backgrounds coming from different locations and religions.

They are amazing and can accomplish anything they want with their lives. Most of our students do not have access to the technology or the variety of things we teach at school so for most of them this is the only opportunity they have to experience many things.

My Project

I am requesting earbuds and mice for our Chromebook computers. We utilize our Chromebooks for a variety of individual projects, as well as group collaboration. My students will use the earbuds and mice to navigate the computers and utilize the sound so they can hear their assignments. They use the Chromebook computers for a variety of "real world" applications such as The Stock Market Game where students read on-line materials and then write explaining their viewpoint. They also do research projects for science, social studies, and math.

The students are not able to move the cursor on the computer very precisely without the mice so they get frustrated and their production is greatly decreased and it makes it difficult to finish the activity.

With the earbuds students will be able to listen to the information more clearly and not be disturbed by the others around them because not all students are not working on the same things.
