This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Addition and subtraction are skills that are needed almost daily. In my class, I would like to provide my students with the opportunity to learn their math facts in a fun way by developing their number sense skills by using the following engaging math addition and subtraction games: flashcards, using Dinorum counting peg with addition and subtraction sentence, Montessori Learning Felt game, and Lakeshore's See and Solve math center games.

With these games and more, my students will be able to re-enforce addition and subtraction facts while using the math games: Lakeshore Visualize It!, using part-whole and by using the Family House Dry Erase Board to learn their math facts in addition and subtraction.

Using these games will help them review fact families while solving addition and subtraction. They learn to share and take turns as they are playing games and sharing materials, which is a social skill that my students need to develop at a young age.

These activities will prepare my students to use math and eventually learn more math topics such as multiplication, division, and pattern recognition.
