My Students

To those who have never lived in the country, it may be hard to imagine living in so far away from other communities that you have to make it a long drive. I live and work in a community in rural Texas. In this community, there is a long history of agrarian society. Students learn about subsistence hunting, animal husbandry, and farming and ranching.

Amid our rural agrarian society is also a robust educational community with 3 campuses, mine being the elementary campus with 525 students.

My Project

Every student in our school would have 1st-hand experience observing, handling, and touring through a traveling museum of dinosaur artifacts and specimens. Here in rural Texas, we want to provide equity to all students however due to our extremely high demographic of low-socioeconomic students, many do not get the opportunity to travel outside of the community. In addition, many of our students' families are not culturally inclined to allow their child to leave the community. This traveling museum would give our students the opportunity to learn science curriculum in a more personal way by being up close to the specimens and working through provided curriculum in classes for all levels.
