Adding Some Rhythm to our Band

My students need a few snare drums to improve the sound of our band.

My Students

Every day, I have students that walk on the stage, ready to perform, ready to compose, and ready to have fun. Every 5th grade student in both of my schools play in the band, and many of the 6th graders to too. We plant the seeds for the music of tomorrow, building our musicianship every day.

My student are just typical kids.

They are fun, rambunctious, and thirsty for knowledge...and I did I mention that they LOVE music?!?! My students come in every day wanting to know more about music and love interacting with it. However, our school is a little different than most schools in the area as we are a year-round school. We also have 88% of our students that get free or reduced price lunch due to our socio-economics. However, walking into our school, you would not even notice, as our students are polite, curious, and hungry for music!

My Project

Imagine seeing a marching band with no drums. How about a rock concert with no drummer? Imagine the Beatles of Ringo Starr was not a part of the legendary quartet. That is what our band sounds like some days. We are asking for two snare drums to use at two schools to help our band sound become complete. Our percussionists in fifth and sixth grade will learn proper technique and a new instrument to take them into middle school, so that our middle school, and eventually high school can have a drum line, a jazz band drummer, and talented musicians.

This donation can help improve our bands sound and give our students the chance to learn a new skill to take them farther as musicians.

Scholarships, professional gigs, and stardom are the possibilities for these young musicians.
