About My Students

The amazing students submitting this project are Paola, Rachel and Melina. These soon to be high schoolers are smart, funny, creative, and artistic, and they value helpfulness and love. These girls have a lot of girl power, and they are putting it to great use! They are thoughtful and caring individuals who wants to make a difference in our school.

Paola, Rachel, and Melina are community builders! They LOVE reading. In this project, they really show how much they care about their classmates and their school. Their caring personalities really shine in this grant!

My students are studying how art reflects values. They are using their Language Arts skills to write grants that reflect their own personal values. These girls value love, friendship and reading, and they hope to use their persuasive writing to convince you to support their grant that provides a bookshelf and new books for their Language Arts class. The books they have chosen have to do with anti-bullying and resilience, and by reading these novels students will be learning skills to help them survive and thrive in school. In preparing this project, students are using 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Thank you for taking the time to read their grant. If you value love, friendship, and education, this is the project for you!

In Their Own Words

Our teacher Mrs. Lomax is an award-winning teacher who wants the best for her students. Our goal is to raise enough money to be able to buy her a new bookshelf and a class set of books. If we can accomplish this goal, we will be filled with joy because it will make a huge difference in our classroom by getting students excited to read more fun books. "13 Reasons Why" is supposed to be an amazing book, and we are going to read it and talk about ways we can be kind in school. We also need a bookshelf to put this class set. Thank you for considering funding our project.

We will be leaders by writing the grant, passing out the materials when they are delivered, taking pictures and writing thank you notes (with our teacher’s help) and bringing our project to life. We will make this project happen by asking our teacher to use this book in our class and making sure students take care of the materials.

This project is important to us and our school community because some students at our middle school don't enjoy reading as much as they should. We think that this is a result of the fact that 80% our library books were published before the year 2000. This makes us sad because our class loves reading so much, and we want other people to feel the same way. This project helps us order books from this century.
