My Students
Many of my students have had a very limited experience in physical education. Adding hockey to the realm will give them another opportunity to learn.
I am currently working with a Title I Baltimore City Public School.
When I arrived at the school we had very limited amount of equipment for class. I see my students year round and they are in need of some new sports to try!
The students I teach attend school in Baltimore, Maryland. I am currently teaching middle school. The students are active in trying to make our community a better place to live by promoting a green lifestyle through our "Go Green" school motto. The students currently do not have many elective classes and the ones they do have, are very limited due to a lack of supplies. Any help, no matter how small to this project would be greatly appreciated.
My Project
We will be using the equipment to start a hockey unit. Adding a hockey unit to the physical education curriculum will be something new for almost all of my students. Many of the students have not experienced many sports beyond basketball and football.
My students will be able to work on gross body movements while working there way up and down the court and avoiding defenders. As students advance and develop great gross body movements for hockey they will begin to develop their fine body movements by practicing their hockey moves.
Your donations will help improve my classroom and the students' lives because it will open them up to more experiences that they have not been exposed to.
Many of the students in Baltimore are underexposed to what is out there beyond the city. This will be a great opportunity to expose them to more opportunities.
