This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a tuition free public progressive charter school located in Bridgeport, CT. Students get breakfast, lunch and snacks provided to them on a daily basis.
Students love to create and use their imagination and would love the opportunity to have a space and place to use their artistic abilities during their art time.
Materials and a budget for art supplies in a low income area are not always available. The arts are so important for these students and a much needed positive part of their day.
My Project
I teach all levels K-8th grade. My students love using the Playcolor paint sticks at all ages. They are so simple to use and allow students to be as creative as they want to be without the mess. Having the sets available on each table will help make the difference for so many of my students who may shy away from the painting experience. The students have more control and can experiment with a variety of different methods! Allowing the students to work with these paint sticks will improve their fine motor skills as well as their creativity. The students will build their confidence by using these materials.
