Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English Language Learners. My school district is a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom due to economic status and English language deficits. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students love to read, learn, and love lots of positive attention.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic success.

My Project

These materials will help my students build on their addition and subtraction skills. Having new manipulatives and games will help us build on those weak skills.

With having new and updated materials, we will be able to build on our addition and subtraction skills.

The flash cards will be able to be used in so many ways, such as letting them help each other memorize their facts. The tens frames will be used to help them have hands on ways to work on those skills. And the games will help them work together to work on skills we are working on in whole group.
