This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm new to this school but it didn't take me long to find out that there's a lot of great kids here! Unfortunately, a large percentage of them seem to be behind the ball in math and reading. Here's the stats: 53% are from low income families and 86% are minority.

I'm hoping these kids can grab onto the "shop classes" for hands on real life experiences that can give them a career of a life time.

We have a lot of potential here but the reading and writing level is below average making success in college a real struggle for them.

My Project

These materials will make a difference by making the shop a little safer. Whether it's added lighting from the shop light, ear plugs for running engines or air reels to keep the hoses off the floor.

I'm trying to make this shop the safest it can be!

I'd really be excited to get the shop hose off the floor and put up some air hose reels. Currently students drag one hose across a three bay shop. Whit the addition of the hose reels, gloves, glasses, ear plugs and work lights we can conduct our daily shop activities with a little bit more emphasis on safety.
