Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
One of the best way for students to solidify what they know is to share their work with their peers. However, with class sizes getting bigger and resources diminishing by the day, this act is getting harder and harder to accomplish.
My students are classified as ELLs (English Language Learners) or former ELLs.
They live under the poverty line, and everyday they face the struggle of trying to master a new language and learn the curriculum. Their exposure to English is limited to what they hear, speak and read at school.
My Project
A document camera would benefit my students in so many ways! First, they would be able to share their work with the class. They would be able to learn from the different approaches that their peers take to solve their problems, and they would learn better ways to edit and correct their work.
Secondly, we could utilize more resources. My school, like so many others is really suffering from the down turned economy. We have been unable to order the resources that we need for our children, and we are now limited to using old books and trying to make copies from the few copies of the new ones that we have. A document camera would allow us to make use of the items that we do have so that everyone can benefit.
Lastly, the use of a document camera would allow us to cut back on all of the copies that we have to make. Saving paper = good for the environment!!
A donation from you can allow my students to have access to items that are simply out of financial reach for them.
A variety of tools will help my students be more successful in so many classes, and the skills that they gain this year will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Thank you for helping my kids!
