My Project

After 3 years of not being able to use our kiln, due to construction and the art room being displaced while we waited for our forever room, we are ready to make ceramic sculptures! This is extremely exciting for all of us. We have the clay, but unfortunately our underglazes are gone.

There is a great new product from Amaco- glazes that act like underglazes, but have the shiny glaze effect when fired.

The fact that they act like underglazes is wonderful because students can create designs or paint specific parts of the sculpture without worrying if it will blend into another color or space.

It is magical when a student sees their work emerge from the kiln in bright, beautiful, shiny colors! I know that they will create adventurous sculptures, and they will look even more impressive after they glaze them!
