This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Calculators are vital tools in middle school education, serving as a bridge between basic arithmetic and more advanced mathematical concepts. At this stage, students begin exploring Algebra, geometry, and data analysis - topics that often involve complex calculations. Calculators allow students to focus on problem-solving strategies and conceptual understanding rather than getting stuck on lengthy computations. When used appropriately, they enhance learning by helping students check their work, visualize patterns, and develop confidence in tackling more challenging material.
Beyond academics, calculators also promote equity in the classroom.
Not all students have the same resources at home, and access to a reliable calculator can level the playing field, ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed. By equipping middle schoolers with calculators, we are investing not only in their math skills but also in their critical thinking, future academic success, and self-confidence as learners.
