Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, imaginative, and full of wonder. Despite the fact that they live in a low income area and we are Title I school, they are always working hard and full of questions about so many topics. Many of my students come to class saying they do not have a computer, laptop, or tablet at home.

My school has technology available to my students, but it's simply not enough.

We share a Chromebook cart with five other 4th grade classes. Therefore, I am only able to have access to four Chromebooks a day. I would love to have tablets to use at my guided reading table so we can explore topics together, read stories online, and do educational games and assessments together in a small group setting.

I want students to have access to 100s of more reading materials that are available through apps and online. If I could use tablets at my guided reading table, I can have stories at all different reading levels available. I could differentiate my guided reading on a more creative and imaginative level that would engage my students in learning even more!

My Project

We are requesting seven Kindle Fire tablets, covers and a surge protector to enhance their literacy. These tablets will enhance my student's love for reading. We will use them at my guided reading table in a small group atmosphere. My students will be able to explore in greater detail subjects they love. They will have access to 100s of more stories and articles at their very own reading level. I will be able to give them more creative assessments and opportunities to research.

These tablets will also help differentiate learning based on each student's learning style.

Each child in my class will have the opportunity to learn on their level and work with me one on one exploring new ideas! Our classroom was affected by Hurricane Harvey.
