My Students
My students are kindergarten students attending school for the first time. Many of my students did not participate in a typical preschool setting and this is their first year in a more traditional school setting. My students are individuals whom all happen to share a label of Autistim. Despite this label, it is my goal as their teacher to have them achieve to the best of their abilities and teach them the skills they need to become successful learners along their educational careers.
My Project
My students would love to be able to create and build art like their typical peers but are often unable to do so because of their limited fine and gross motor skills. For my students to be able to create like their typical peers they need access to adapted scissors, no-spill paint cups, non-toxic paint and play dough. They will be able to explore the art materials fully and use their various senses using the finger, foam paints and dough tools. These multiple types of media would accommodate all of my students and all them to access the art despite their sensory aversions.
