This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Teaching a functional skills class requires more than just providing specialized instruction in math and reading. Many of my students have Autism and other disabilities that require attention to their sensory needs.
Adaptive swings are very effective in helping with sensory processing disorders.
Sensory swings make children feel safe, soothing overly stimulated senses, and also help children learn body awareness, balance, motor planning, and spatial skills. The requested hardware such as the prefab joist installation kit and height adjustment are the hardware needed to install it in our room.
We know it is a tall order, but this will be able to benefit my students for as long as this school is standing. Thank you so much.
