We collectively teach a lively bunch of over 60 students with disabilities. Our students range in age from 5 to 12, and each one of our classrooms serves students from multiple grade levels. Every day in our classrooms is an adventure, filled with laughter, love, learning, and plenty of fun.
All of our students are unique, each having their own special set of strengths and their own individual challenges.
For many of our students, communication, mobility, and self-regulation are extremely difficult.
Although our students face challenges in these areas on a daily basis, they still come to school happy and ready to learn. We love our students and want the very best for them. We hope that you will consider supporting our classrooms and helping our wonderful students.

My Project
We have over 60 students who will be joining their typical peers in specialty classes (art, music, library, and PE) within the next few months. Many of our students struggle with communication, fine motor activities, and self-regulation. When these students are in their regular classroom, they have easy access to resources that can help accommodate these needs. However, when these students are not in their typical classroom, access to resources that may be able to help them is a little more limited.
We would love to provide our students with these resources outside of our classroom in order to ensure they are having the most fulfilling, educational experiences possible.
We are asking for several adapted items: jumbo crayons, adapted scissors, adapted writing claws, desk bells, and wrist ribbons. etc. For some of our kiddos with fine-motor concerns, grasping things can be very difficult. All of these adapted art supplies and instruments will give our students the chance to color, cut, paste, write, play, and participate just like their general education peers. We are also hoping to get some bean bag chairs for our students to use in the library. These chairs are easily moved, allowing us to give our students a quieter space within the library, should they become over-stimulated.
We are so excited to begin the process of including our students with their general education peers. With your help, we can make this transition a smooth one.
This set of bells can be played either as handbells or deskbells. A special mechanism allows bells to be played by either pushing the button on top of the handle while the bell sits on the table or by picking up the bell and hand ringing. This allows everyone to participate, even those with limited grasping ability. This mechanism also helps reduce the “double ringing” effect when playing melodies. Bells are color coded for easy play with color-coded music. The note is clearly marked on the end of the handle of each bell for those using normal sheet music.
