Adaptive Art

Help me give my students access to supplies that will accommodate their needs including age-appropriate glue guns, adaptive tools and the handy dandy transportable case (a 75 pocket Tool Bag Backpack) that will help me get the adaptive supplies to all students.

My Students

I work as an art specialist with kids in both a mainstream elementary school and a special education school for students with severe and multiple disabilities. I love both of my teaching environments and have really enjoyed bringing the two schools together to make collaborative art and develop social and peer partnering skills. At my special education school, I enjoy introducing students to new art media where they can have new experiences and learning that is specified to their developmental ability. At my mainstream elementary school, I enjoy working with students to apply the concepts they are learning in their grade level classroom and school character skills in their art creation. Students work in teams and create collaborative work as well as self-reflective work.

My Project

This project will allow both of my schools to have access to the tools they need. The kid-safe glue guns and low-temperature glue sticks will allow my students to create 3-D simple machines that turn and move by themselves.

By providing my kids with low-temperature glue guns will allow students to tinker, test and make modifications to their simple machines to figure out how to make them move.

The backpack will allow me to transport these glue guns and other adaptive tools my kids need from school to school so every student can have the right tool for the job that allows them to work independently!
