Adapting to an Ever Changing World in the Classroom

My Students

Our kindergarten students are engaged scholars who are always ready to learn each day while working to implement and master our school's character traits of respect and responsibility. They are not only learning through the English language, but they take part in interactive Greek lessons as well. This year, our kindergarteners were particularly excited about reading non-fiction texts during literacy. In math, they were pleasantly surprised how easy subtraction felt after working through the difficulties involved in the new concept of addition. They also found it fascinating how they can switch between the Greek numbers and English numbers in their back-to-back math blocks.

Our school is consistently implementing evidence-based practices in the classroom; however, as our world continues to evolve, technology is quickly becoming a major piece in our education puzzle.

Our students have limited "free play" time due to our rigorous Greek immersion program, and it seems that gaining a new way to differentiate learning and increase excitement among the students could be extremely beneficial for our school. Our kindergarten team truly feels this would positively impact everyone involved.

My Project

As previously stated, these iPads will help diversify the avenues in which our students are able to learn. We hope to give students the opportunity to have technology in both literacy and math centers. This can include activities such as listening to a story and taking a reading comprehension quiz online. We'd also love to incorporate programs such as iReady that helps meet students where they are at, offering further individualized learning.

Students are becoming so used to the world of technology in their day-to-day lives outside the school building, yet they are not seeing this reflected in the classroom.

As a kindergarten team, we are so excited at even the thought of having technology in our classroom that we are overjoyed you are even considering helping out our scholars. Thank you so much for reading through our proposal!
