My Project
I teach elementary school students with multiple disabilities. They are wonderful children and I am always impressed by the progress they make and the amazing things they do! This will be my 3rd year teaching and I am on a mission to build up my collection of adapted academic materials. In this project, I have included gift cards for Teachers Pay Teachers and items needed to adapt them for my students from Amazon. I hope to purchase Social Studies, Science, Math, and ELA adapted activities from TpT. Adapting materials requires a lot of time and supplies including lamination, velcro, hot glue, binder rings, printer ink etc. which I have included in the project. I make many activities I use in the room, so these items will go to use everyday for communication and fine motor activities. I have also included an adapted switch fan in this project. This is a classroom favorite, and it was so well-loved that it no longer works. This fan was used for calming students, teaching cause & effect concepts, and even to teach a student how to hold onto bike handles.
With the materials included in this project, my students will have the opportunity to practice foundational fine motor and communication skills while also learning academic content.
I am passionate about providing hands-on, accessible, and meaningful activities for every learner. I hope to spend time over the summer preparing these materials to use for next year.
