Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm an adapted PE teacher who works with students from first grade through age 22. My students need bright colored, larger equipment and targets in order to practice their skills and do their very best.

My students are students who love movement and love to learn and practice and have fun.

They are aged 6-22 with moderate to severe learning challenges. They all love to move their bodies and laugh with their friends. I travel to different schools within my district to meet their physical education needs. It's great to have a variety of equipment that will catch their attention.

My Project

My youngest students would be happy to use the river rocks to walk on to gain a sense of where their bodies are in space. They can use them in understanding colors and numbers as well. My students love bigger and brighter balls such as the volleyballs and the larger and lighter paddles. My older students really like to work out in new ways such as the exercise bands which can be used in many ways. They also like to play recreational games such as boccie ball and I look forward to teaching them shuffle board.

These donations will really benefit my students in many ways.

First and foremost they will be able to do what typical students do in PE, paddle ball, volleyball, movement exercises. Then, with bigger, brighter, lighter equipment, they will be able to be more successful. If a student feels success, they will keep practicing and trying. This is my hope for my students- for them to pick something physically active that they like and have fun with and will take it on as a life long hobby.
