This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are smart, funny and friendly. Each day they amaze me and help me to grow as an educator.

I've never met students that are more hardworking and eager to learn than this bunch.

Along with our core academics, they are excited to explore different job skills and career options, which includes setting goals for what they want to do after graduation. We have accomplished so much this year and have so much more to accomplish every single day!

My Project

My students need a variety of adapted materials. Laminating pouches and velcro help to create adapted materials such as matching spelling words or reusable life skills materials. My students need adapted scissors to independently cut out items for cut and paste matching work. My students need a slant board to increase independence and productivity when writing and completing tasks at their desk. My students need flexible seating options such as chairs to use as a spot to go to calm down when upset or frustrated. My students need chair fidgets to use when sitting at their desk and increase productivity and attention.

Having adapted materials will help my students to succeed in daily academics.

These type of materials will increase independence and productivity within each one of my students.
