Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are people who have been identified as having severe disabilities. Their medical diagnosises vary. Some are on the autism spectrum, have Downs Syndrome, are deaf/blind, have Cerebral Palsay or are without a medical diagnosis.

As an educator, I am a life long learner dedicated to networking with the world to create a better place for us all to live.

We all have unique abilities to share. I am working with Olympics of Northern California and Nevada to create Unified environments across our campus for students to socialize. I love my job and the constant challenges my students present me with!

My Project

By providing students with accessible seating they will be able to join their peers during the lunch and brunch times. Our school site does not currently have ADA accessible picnic tables which limits students in their ability to socialize. My students are often left to eat by themselves on the ground or inside our special day class. By creating an inclusive environment our campus culture will not only teach tolerance, but encourage acceptance of all people. Our school has created Unifed sports teams with students who are in general education and students who have severe disabilities. The tables will provide a place for our Unified teams to socialize during break times.
