This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My incoming students are going to be in desperate need of tables and desk chairs to work on when they head in in the fall--yes, tables and desk chairs.

Hear me out: I teach high school, and the reality is, that our desks with connected chairs are too small for many students; I've had students not fit in a desk; I've had a student lean on one that tipped over; It can be extremely embarrassing to say the least.

I want my classroom to be inviting and accessible to all my students. Moreover, students will have an easier time working collaboratively if they are sitting comfortably together at a common table. With our district no longer being 1:1 (one Chromebook for each student), students can share screens for videos, TED Talks, and research. And no desk-moving trauma on the ears. It's also easier for me to sit with small groups of students during writing and analyzing tasks.

It just changes the vibe.
