My Students

Even though it is supposed to be "paradise," I teach in an area of high poverty. Many of my students do not have electricity and running water. Regardless, they go the extra mile in trying to attain a high level of education taking whatever opportunities our school offers.

My students go the extra mile and take rigorous courses in order to have a chance at going to college or being ready for a career.

They are hard-working, driven, young people who are focused on their futures.

My Project

My students cannot afford to purchase their own copies of reading materials. Most of "class sets" of books I have are missing copies so I have to rely on books that are available for free digitally.

My students have had nothing but digital texts for the last year and a half; this project gives them the opportunity to read a tangible book.

Having these books will improve their overall classroom experience because they can read more high interest books. Additionally, it put my students on a more level playing field with the students who can afford to buy their own copies of books.
