Without a doubt, more powerful technology resources are on the horizon annually. An ActivSlate used with a Promethean Board is one of those. Teachers use them to integrate lessons with the freedom of movement. I know with an ActivSlate we could work effectively on technology lessons.
I am currently a 3rd grade team teacher at a Pre K- fifth grade school.
Our school has more than 500 students. We have a close knit community and the parental support here is truly admirable. Each year our school offers technology campaigns to help our school gain technology resources. I believe technology integration is an asset to the curriculum. We as a school are fortunate that our students have truly embraced technology resources and love working with all of our resources.
My Project
Our school has been fortunate enough to receive Promethean Boards for all of our classrooms. However, we did not receive funding for ActivSlates and accessories and I would love for my class to have one. It is basically a wireless tablet that offers the same interactive function as a Promethean Board, but has the advantage of freedom of movement. As a wireless tablet, it would allow me to leave my Promethean Board more. I could bring the slate to students to work with the Activinspire software and lessons. The tablet and pen would allow students to work out or answer problems interactively on the tablet for the whole class to see.
More often than not, additional money is not available for the extra technology accessories and tools.
I am asking your help to bring an ActivSlate with charger to my 3rd grade classroom. Your consideration would be appreciated.
