This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is revolutionizing our world! Let's revolutionize the learning of our youngest generation by giving them the technology they need. We want to go green and eliminate testing on paper. Using ActiVotes in kindergarten will allow us to respond to questions quickly with the click of a button.
The kindergarten students in my classroom are eager to learn.
For the past few years, our rural area has been in the top five communities nationwide for unemployment; for the past several months, we have been number one, with an unemployment rate exceeding 33 percent. Our school is located in an area that is number one in Arizona for the number of children who are food insecure. Currently 82 percent of my students are at or below poverty. 30 percent are from active duty military families. These students make up the majority of the minority population that must prepare for the innovative jobs and careers in the future. Their families are not equipped financially to provide technology devices at home. Therefore it becomes necessary for them to have exposure to technology at school.
My Project
The Promethean Activotes are hand-held response devices that allow students to submit answers and respond to questions on our interactive whiteboard. Activotes will fully engage students and give the teacher on-going information about how to adjust lessons. This technology is key to our STEMS and Project Based Learning lessons in kindergarten creating high academic interest and a love of learning for our youngest students. These students were born into the digit age and are motivated to learn using technology. By donating to this project you are also giving students the gift of going green and helping us to eliminate paper waste. Testing student knowledge with hand-held Activote devices eliminates the need for paper tests and quizzes. In future years, this will impact hundreds of students. This new generation must have technology in order to become prepared for their future and thrive in a global society.
STEMS and Project based Learning in education is vital to the 21st century education of our youth in order to get them ready for their future careers and be able to compete in a global society.
Offering technology support enhances their abilities for engagement in lessons which increases their enthusiasm for learning. By supporting our project your are supporting a 21st century classroom providing technology to our youngest generation. This is a great way to increase sustainability!
